igus polymer solutions for moving applications help you reduce installation, handling and throughput times. In your woodworking machines and CNC machining centres, our tightly closing energy supply systems ensure the controlled movement of cables, hydraulic and pneumatic hoses and protect them from dust and chips. In addition, our linear guides, plain and ball bearings do not require external lubrication and maintenance. This makes them ideal for use in the wood industry, as chips, dust and dirt cannot adhere to the bearing points thanks to dry running.
Special solutions are just as much part of the igus product range as standard parts. Our experts match the choice of the manufacturing process and the component material precisely to your needs. The right material for your purposes is selected from a wide range of wear-resistant and maintenance-free high-performance polymers.

The challenge for our customer in this project was that the path of the cables through the machine from the consumer unit to the switch cabinet is 100 metres. In the event of service, where there is planned or unplanned downtime, this results in major logistical expenses. The solution: a fully harnessed energy chain, including the plug and play interface solution Module Connect. The customer is able to unplug and plug in the self-coded assembly at any time - absolutely securely and without specialist personnel. This simplifies handling and significantly reduces downtime and maintenance costs.
Weeke Bohrsysteme GmbH relies on pre-assembled readychain® systems in the manufacturing of their equipment. Thanks to the ready-to-install energy supplies equipped with harnessed cables, Weeke only needs half the time to assemble the energy tubes. This enables the company to lower its production costs whilst offering a long-life, low-maintenance product for its end customers.
Special designs have two essential disadvantages: procurement of spare parts and high development costs. How these disadvantages can be avoided is demonstrated by Westphal Maschinenbau with an innovative energy supply consisting of standard components. The e-chain® carries an extraction hose piggyback which it takes, along with other cables, safely and securely over a travel distance of 16 metres.
This lathe made by HOMAG India processes wooden parts, which causes a large amount of wood chips and dust. The use of iglidur® plain bearings, which contain solid lubricant, means that the machine's bearings are low maintenance and do not have to be lubricated in any way. This cuts costs and saves service time as well as preventing wood swarf and dust from sticking to the bearings.
SERRA Maschinenbau GmbH places great demands on its stationary sawmills. They must work flawlessly at all times, no matter how hot or cold it is. Furthermore, they must be easy to operate, maintain and service. This was successfully achieved by using polymer plain bearings. The bearings do not have to be lubricated, they are impervious to shocks, dirt and sawdust and they are extremely temperature-resistant.
